Beautiful Blooms for Mother’s Day
A visit to the flower shops in Japan was the inspiration for Leanne Lai to come back to Adelaide and start her own florist business called Sunday Blooms.
Leanne who was working as a speech pathologist knew that floristry was a passion that triggered her creativity and was to be her future direction.
“I started slowly by making my arrangements at home and putting photos on instagram. The response was immediate and my online orders started to grow from word-of-mouth and recommendations.”
Then this year, Leanne opened a shop on Euston Walk in Mawson Lakes and filled it with flowers and other decorative items sourced from local craftspeople. She has candles, chocolates, a small range of earrings and her own self-designed gift cards.
“I’m gearing up for Mother’s Day when I will go to the Adelaide flower market and buy seasonal flowers including chrysanthemums, tulips, roses
and carnations which are a crowd favourite to celebrate their loved ones. These are sourced from both local and imported farmers to ensure that the flowers you bring home are fun, fresh and delightful.”
“A popular gift that I like to make up are flower arrangements catered to each customer. I ask that the customer provides me with a colour preference, a description of the receiver and a budget and I will personalise the bouquet to bring great joy to the receiver,” says Leanne who likes to add artistry to her designs.
